SEATTLE, WA – Alexander Hutton is pleased to announce the partnership of its client Systems in Motion with RMH Systems, a portfolio company of Rotunda Capital Partners.
Systems in Motion (“SIM” or “the Company”) is a systems integrator providing a comprehensive suite of industrial automation solutions including design / consulting analytics, installation services, aftermarket services, software solutions, and electrical control services, among others. SIM primarily serves customers in the food & beverage, e-commerce, last-mile delivery, packaging, manufacturing, and third-party logistics industries. The Company has partnered with RMH Systems (“RMH”), a portfolio company of Rotunda Capital Partners (“Rotunda”). RMH is a leading provider of turnkey automation, material handling, packaging, robotics, and industrial scale solutions. Together, RMH and Systems in Motion are positioned to offer customers a more complete, end-to-end range of automation and material handling solutions, with RMH gaining a new operating hub in the Great Lakes region and SIM extending its reach through RMH's broader footprint.
Systems in Motion, headquartered in Elgin, IL, was founded in 1996. Scott Lee and a partner started the business as Conveyor Solutions, a material handling systems integrator. Scott took over sole ownership in 2012 and continued to build the Company, later bringing long-time partner companies in-house to add static installation, electrical panel design, and controls capabilities, among other solutions. The family of existing and newly acquired businesses was united under the Systems in Motion name in 2017. Today, SIM employs 110+ individuals across multiple business units and has a deeply established presence in the Great Lakes region, with national reach and staffing.
SIM’s management team looks forward to partnering with RMH, as the combination brings together complementary capabilities and shared values, positioning the Company to continue delivering complex projects at greater scale while expanding its reach to additional customers nationwide. Commenting on the transaction, Scott Lee said, “Partnering with RMH gives us the scale and complementary capabilities, including packaging, industrial scale, and overhead cranes, to take on bigger, more complex projects, while giving our team access to more resources to keep growing. It is a natural next chapter for the business we have built.”
Commenting on working with Alexander Hutton, Scott also shared, “The Alexander Hutton team was instrumental in getting this transaction closed. Their commitment to their client’s best interest was shown throughout our time together, I would recommend them to any owner exploring a transaction.”
Regarding SIM's partnership with RMH, Alexander Hutton Managing Director James Thompson stated, "Every transaction is special; each has its own remarkable story of entrepeneurship. In partnering with RMH, Scott now has the resources and scale to propel a whole new level of growth."
Ballard Spahr, LLP represented Systems in Motion. RMH Systems and Rotunda Capital Partners were represented by Greenberg Traurig, LLP. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
