Joining recently appointed Lawrence K. Johnson endowed Chair Peter Rowan, Alexander Hutton Managing Director, James Thompson has been appointed to the SU IEC Advisory Board. This continues a long history between Alexander Hutton and the IEC. Under the leadership of Alexander Hutton Managing Director, Kent Johnson, who has held many leadership roles, including adjunct professor and founding Chair and current IEC Board member, the firm has played an important role in building bridges between the IEC and the local entrepreneurship eco-system. Several important companies have been “spun-out” of the IEC with Kent’s assistance including Vera Whole Health and Ro Health. Both companies were “incubated” in Kent’s MBA class and mentored by Kent since their inceptions. These companies have resulted in the creation of thousands of good paying jobs and creating significant shareholder returns that have then been recycled back into supporting other SU entrepreneurs.

Commenting on the appointment, Kent Johnson remarked, “I am very pleased to welcome James to the IEC board. His background as a venture investor, former CEO and -currently as an investment banker, is ideal in bringing new ideas and energy to the important work of the IEC board.
